Hero Chilean Miner and Dermot O’Leary host The National TV Awards in our evening shirts - Emma Willis

Hero Chilean Miner and Dermot O’Leary host The National TV Awards in our evening shirts

Our favourite visit this week was from Luis Urzua, the last Chilean miner to surface and whose presence of mind, level headedness and humour, saved the other men.

He and his 18 year old son Luis came to the shop to be measured on Tuesday, for us to cut and make them a bespoke evening shirt each for the National TV Awards the next evening.

With the help of a translator we greatly enjoyed hearing about this extraordinary human feat, and Alex, Jenny and I were utterly enchanted by  them both.  It was such a privilege to meet him.  We were also able to introduce them to the Chilean Ambassador in London as he is another of our customers.

My cutter Norman, and ladies at our workroom cut and made a bespoke, white Swiss cotton shirt for each of them that afternoon. and they visited us again on Wednesday.  Both shirts fitted perfectly and they looked fantastic.

We then attended the event that evening, invited along with Hardy Amies as we had dressed presenter Dermot O’Leary for the event.  We had the great pleasure of seeing Dermot and Luis co-presenting one of the awards, both looking immaculate in our shirts and bow ties, and Dermot clearly loving his company too, commenting as he left the stage “I don’t want to let you go!”
